Royal Enfield Himalayan 400cc
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is an all-new adventure motorcycle to be launched in February 2016.
It’s a completely new motorcycle from the ground up, including new chassis, new engine and new design. The Himalayan will be powered by a new four stroke, single cylinder, 410cc air-cooled engine, which will make around 28PS of power and 32Nm of torque.
Instead of a traditional push rod set up, the new engine will have overhead cams and is expected to freely rev to 6500-7000rpm.
The engine will also be equipped with a counter balancer which is expected to make the new engine much smoother and refined than any of the engines from the Royal Enfield stable.
The bike gets a new double cradle chassis, designed by Royal Enfield-owned Harris Performance, which was responsible for designing the chassis of the Royal Enfield Continental GT as well.
The Himalayan will be launched in two variants - one an out and out adventure bike with raised front fender and dual sport tyres and the other one with street tyres and conventional mud guards.
The two variants are expected to be priced between Rs 1.65 to Rs 1.85 lakh.
